Extendable dining table manufactured by Burgess Fine Furniture, Preston, circa. 1960’s.
As with most Australian-made dining tables from the 60’s this table is very well built and still very solid. The timber veneer presents well, with minor signs of wear and age over the decades. The extension mechanism is a little tight, but still sliding and lining up as it should.
The leg frames have been stained in their previous life, and are slightly darker than the table top.
Freshly oiled, waxed and ready to go. This is a well-built and affordable piece for someone wanting to start collecting mid-century furniture, or for those looking to make a switch.
Blemishes:
There is a slight opening to one of the corners of an extension leaf, seen in the last photo.
There is also a strip of timber slightly lighter than the rest, which can also be seen in that same last photo.
The stained timber legs were not professionally done, and so there is inconsistency and patches of darker spots, this can be seen in the second last photo.
